Preventive & Precision Genomics

Your genetics can provide valuable insights into medication response, health risks, and early detection.

Turning Genetic Information Into
Actionable Health Insights

Genetics is not simply about identifying what you may be at risk for. The value lies in understanding how that information can be interpreted within the context of your health.

Our precision and preventive genomics approach combines advanced testing with clinical assessment to help identify relevant genetic insights, guide personalized monitoring, and support more informed healthcare decisions

Genomic Insights Across Different Stages of Care

From optimizing medication choices to identifying potential health risks and exploring advanced cancer screening, genomic medicine can provide an additional layer of insight for personalized healthcare.

Pharmacogenomics

Personalizing Medication
Through Your Genetic Profile

People can respond differently to the same medication. Genetic variations can influence how certain drugs are absorbed, metabolized, or tolerated by the body.

Pharmacogenomic testing evaluates relevant genetic markers to help identify potential differences in medication response, supporting more personalized treatment decisions and reducing the likelihood of certain adverse drug reactions.

PREVENTIVE & LONGEVITY GENOMICS

Discover What Your
Genome Can Reveal

At David Medical, our advanced genomic health screening uses whole-genome technology to evaluate hundreds of genes associated with hereditary cancer, cardiovascular conditions, neurological disorders, inherited health risks, and carrier status. It also includes selected mitochondrial and other advanced genomic analyses.

Healthy adults 18 and older can self-refer. No symptoms, diagnosis, or physician referral required.

Your evaluation includes a consultation with a board-certified medical geneticist, pre- and post-test genetic counseling, expert interpretation of your results, and personalized recommendations for your health and family.

LIQUID BIOPSY & ADVANCED CANCER SCREENING

Exploring Molecular Signals
Through a Blood-Based Approach

Advances in molecular medicine are opening new possibilities for detecting biological signals associated with certain cancers through blood-based testing.

Liquid biopsy and advanced cancer screening may provide additional information for selected individuals, particularly when considered alongside personal risk factors, clinical history, and appropriate medical evaluation.

Screening options are evaluated on an individual basis and do not replace standard cancer screening or diagnostic evaluation when clinically indicated.

Beyond Testing:
A More Complete View of Your Health

Genomic testing is most valuable when interpreted within the broader context of your health.

At David Medical, genetic information is considered alongside your medical history, clinical findings, risk factors, and individual goals to create a more complete picture of your health.

The result is not simply a genetic report, but information that can help inform the next step in your care.

If you're searching for answers and can't seem to find a doctor knowledgeable enough to help, Dr. Margarita David in Winter Park is OUTSTANDING!!!! I had my first appointment with her recently after searching for a doctor that could help me for suspected Ehlers Danlos Syndrome for over 10 years. she spent an hour and a half with me during a Telehealth appointment, listening attentively, validating my concerns, and demonstrating exceptional expertise and empathy throughout the visit. After years of difficult medical experiences, she was one of the first doctors who truly made me feel heard and supported, carefully evaluating my history, she took my symptoms seriously from the start. Dr. David is also referring me to EDS-knowledgeable specialists in cardiology, allergy/immunology, and gastroenterology, leaving me feeling hopeful and confident about my ongoing care!!! Honestly I need to send her flowers! She sets the bar for doctors of every kind.

Dr. David is patient to listen and thorough in using her training and experience to both assess and search out the best path for how to navigate through my health challenges with hEDS (hypermobile Ehler's Danlos Syndrome) alongside mild TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). It is evident that her passion is to educate and empower individuals to overcome both genetic variants and life circumstances that influence health.
Elizabeth
Dr. David is outstanding. She goes above and beyond to support her patients in their health journey. She is also connected with a vast group of specialists and is able to refer her patients to Drs that have extensive knowledge and practice with conditions that are not common. It took 40+ years of never having answers to my health conditions, and in one visit, DR. David was able to connect the dots and quickly got me on a journey to improving my life. Also, every specialist she has referred me to thus far, have been so knowledgeable, kind and easy to get in to see!

FAQ

Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing that allows the physician to appropriately assess joint mobility and relevant physical features.

The examination may require visualization of your:

  • Hands and arms
  • Elbows
  • Knees and lower legs
  • Ankles and feet

You may be asked to remove your shoes and socks during the examination.

Many components of a genetics and connective tissue evaluation can be performed through telemedicine. Your physician will determine whether the virtual examination provides sufficient clinical information or whether an in-person examination is needed.

For telehealth, you must be in a private, quiet, well-lit, stationary location with reliable internet and enough room to safely stand and move.

EDS/hypermobility evaluations should not be performed while driving, traveling, or sitting inside a vehicle.

Your physician will review your symptoms, medical and family history, relevant records, and previous testing.

When appropriate, the visit may also include a detailed physical examination, joint hypermobility assessment, and evaluation for features associated with hereditary connective tissue disorders.

At the end of the evaluation, your physician will discuss the clinical impression and recommend the most appropriate next steps, including genetic testing or additional medical evaluation when indicated.

A final diagnosis may not always be established during the first visit.

A negative genetic test does not necessarily exclude a genetic condition.

We can review your previous testing to determine whether it adequately addressed your clinical presentation and whether broader testing, updated testing, reanalysis, or another diagnostic approach may be appropriate.

This is particularly important in hEDS, which remains a clinical diagnosis and currently does not have a single confirmatory genetic test.
